This guide shows how to configure and use model-based issue management in Interaxo Project. By linking issues to 3D models, you gain better visual control over deviations, changes, and other processes.
The first part of this user guide explains how to work effectively with issues and viewpoints, including support for BCF import and export.
Further down, you'll learn how to set up folders and activate the feature.
How to Use Model-Based Issue Management
Once model-based issue management is enabled for an active folder with a workflow, you can start working with issues connected to models.
Open Model Issues
Single Issue
To open an issue from the standard IX view, click on the snapshot—either from the grid via the number in the 3D box column (first image below) or from the model links section inside the entry (second image below).
Full Issue List
When opening the model view from the “All” step, no step/status filtering is applied by default.
Filtered by Step/Status
By navigating to a specific step—such as “Open” in this example—you'll get a filtered view of that particular step in the model view.
Issues
Create an Issue with a Viewpoint
When you click the “Create Issue” button from within the model view, the current view is used as the viewpoint, including any selected object. Click the snapshot again to update the view before saving, if needed.
Issue Details and Metadata
All fields from the Interaxo folder will also be available here. Fill in the required/desired information before saving the issue. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
Step/Status Changes
The step/status is presented as a dropdown list when editing the issue. Change this value to move the entry—this is functionally identical to moving it to another step in the regular folder view in Interaxo Project.
Commenting and Resolving Issues
Go to the comments section to add a comment to an issue. Click the camera icon to attach the current viewpoint to the comment before saving, if desired.
Viewpoints
Viewpoints include both a snapshot image and an actual view in the model(s), including filtering and selection. The snapshot image always remains as it was when taken, but the actual view is based on the current version of the model(s).
BCF – BIM Collaboration Format
Model-based issue management in Interaxo Project currently supports version 2.1 of the BIM Collaboration Format—for both import and export.
Export
As with other Interaxo exports, you can filter or select the issues you want to export.
Import
When importing a BCF file, the entire file and its changes will be imported. It's good practice to filter the issues before importing to minimize the risk of updating irrelevant issues.
How to Configure Model-Based Issue Management
Model-based issue management works with active folders in Interaxo Project. Some settings need to be enabled for it to function.
Folder Configuration
In Interaxo Project, you need:
-
A simple folder containing the IFC model files to which issues will be linked. This can be a single model or multiple models for interdisciplinary design collaboration.
-
An active folder with a workflow that will contain the actual issues linked to model files in the simple folder.
How to Enable Model-Based Issue Management for an Active Folder
The option to enable “Model-Based Issue Management” is found under the top-level folder settings.
Before saving the folder, the next step is to select the model folder, which can be any simple folder in the same project space. This is done under the Model-Based Issues tab.
BCF Fields (BIM Collaboration Format)
For BCF export and import to work, certain fields must be configured. These fields must be named exactly as shown for import/export to function correctly. Note: the active folder used for model-based issue management may contain more fields than those listed below, but you cannot have additional required fields outside of the BCF standard if BCF import is to work.
| Name: | Field Type: | Comment: |
| Title | Text | |
| TopicType | List | |
| Description | Text | |
| AssignedTo | Members Field | Import/export uses the user's email. |
BCF Workflow Steps/Statuses
In the BCF standard, you can have several statuses that match the steps in the active folder used for model-based issue management.
Supported Statuses in Interaxo for BCF:
-
Open
-
Assigned
-
Active
-
Resolved
-
Closed
Statuses other than these will not work for BCF import/export.
Limitations
-
Only simple folders can be used for models—not active folders.
-
The following features cannot be used with the issue folder:
-
Review and Publish.
-
Review Only.
-
Approval.
-
Visual Board.
-
