Sync workflow in Archicad, Revit and Simple bim (IFC)
We recommend that you follow this workflow if you are multiple people working in the same project with Teamwork or Worksharing.
If you work alone in a smaller project, it is important that you save your project after synchronizing with Interaxo BIM Data, to save all updates on objects done by Interaxo BIM Data, objects GUIDs etc.
Archicad
The view that is active with the layers that are lit (layers) determines what is to be synchronized. Make sure that the zones that define the rooms are lit only if you want the objects to have the correct affiliation when synchronizing.
Categories and Classification
The most recent current (in the file) AC classification is the one that applies to what are categories in Interaxo BIM Data. You can thus have several AC classifications if you upgrade the project and the latest one is added. You can delete this if you do not want to put "correct" categories on the objects that you have changed in previous classifications.
The categories that are activated in Interaxo BIM Data cannot be switched off or locked in Archicad at the first sync.
Then you can hide layers, for example, zones that do not describe rooms for objects to read the correct Room (zone) data.
If you would like to exclude specific elements from the synchronization to Interaxo BIM Data you can specify the "BIMEYE Sync flag" property in the model to be false, this is by default set to true during the first sync.
Objects in Modules and hotlinks do not work in Archicad together with Interaxo BIM Data. The objects must be in the model you are synchronizing. If you have separate eg buildings as files you can handle all this directly to Interaxo BIM Data from each file.
Note! Archicad Properties with Expressions cant be sent to Interaxo BIM Data directly. You have to map those to a IFC-property to able to sync that to Interaxo BIM Data.
Sync Archicad
Do send and receive and ask all project members to do the same if they are working with the objects you are going to update.
Reserve the objects you want to synchronise. This to be sure that no one else are reserving them during the synchronisation process.
Synchronise with Interaxo BIM Data. (How)
Send and receive model to save all updated information.
Tell the members it's done and they can now update and continue to work.
Revit
Objects in Xrefs do not work in Revit together with Interaxo BIM Data. The objects must be in the model you are synchronizing. If you have separate eg buildings as files you can handle all this directly to Interaxo BIM Data from each file.
Sync Revit
Ask all project members to synchronise and relinquish their local copy of the model with the central file.
Synchronise your local copy with the central.
Synchronise with Interaxo BIM Data. (How)
Synchronise model with Central file.
Tell all the members that the sync is done and they can now check out new or update their local copies and continue to work.
When working with groups and because of how Revit handles them, all computers working on that model need to have the client installed as we have functionality in the client to pick up on when changes is being made to the model groups.
Simple bim (IFC)
Sync IFC
Synchronise with Interaxo BIM Data.
Troubleshoot IFC:
Sync was canceled, usually when an IFC can not be uploaded to Interaxo BIM Data, it is because an IFC GUID (object identity) is already included in Interaxo BIM Data. Interaxo BIM Data allows only one unique GUID per object.
That different IFC files have the same GUID on objects is due to the fact that they are exported from the same original file. Objects in Interaxo BIM Data include unique instances, types, rooms and levels etc.
The objects that are most often about are levels in the IFC file as they are shared by the objects in the original file. These must be unique per model in Interaxo BIM Data.
There are two ways to solve this. Export everything to Interaxo BIM Data in one IFC file. A more difficult alternative is to ensure that the GUID at levels in IFC are different before loading to Interaxo BIM Data and maintain the same GUID between each time the file is synchronized with Interaxo BIM Data.
Synchronization and Project Configuration
Best Practices
We recommend that you do a synchronization either with full property content or a special Parameter Configuration Sync to make the model properties available for configuration in the project. Especially if the model is large we recommend the new Parameter Configuration Synchronization that only syncs samle of objects with all their properties. This will make the properties available for mapping in the project with this type of sync taking the least amount of time.
After the initial synchronization is done the project administrator can begin configuration of the parameters, see the Parameter Configuration Guide.
Lastly you can now synchronize regularly after the project has been set up. If you ever need to do more parameter configuration and property mapping you can always make a full property content sync or try the new parameter configuration sync.
