Summary:
In this user guide, you will learn how to:
1. Getting Started - How to create an inspection and fill out checkpoints.
2. What the Inspection Contains - Understand checkpoints, registrations, and the report.
3. Step by Step - Review the entire flow, from creation to signed report.
This guide shows step-by-step how to work with an Inspection in the Interaxo Capture app.
The following will be covered:
1.0 What is an Inspection
An inspection is used to conduct a structured site survey with multiple independent checkpoints – for example, a facade inspection, condition assessment, or handover inspection. An inspection collects properties (who, when, where), a list of checkpoints to be reviewed, and registrations (documentation, issues, tasks) that arise along the way. Finally, the inspection is generated as a report and signed, so that the execution is documented and traceable.
2.0 Creating an Inspection
Open the model or map.
Tap the registration type menu at the bottom of the screen, and select Inspection.
If the project has multiple inspection types, choose the desired type from the submenu.
-
Fill out the Properties. Some fields may/will be required to complete the creation.
Which fields are required will be clearly indicated in the user interface.
3.0 Filling Out Checkpoints
Under Checkpoints, you see the progress as "X of Y checkpoints marked," with a progress bar.
- Tap the Checkpoints card to open the full list.
- Check off each checkpoint you have reviewed, or tap Mark All at the top right to mark all at once.
- Go back – the progress updates automatically on the inspection.
Note! Which checkpoints are shown is controlled by the project setup and selected inspection type, so it may vary from inspection to inspection.
4.0 Adding Registrations to the Inspection
From the inspection, you can add documentation, issues, and tasks directly, linked to this inspection:
- Tap + Add Registration.
- Choose registration type: Documentation, Issue, or Task.
- Fill out the form.
(See the user guide for each registration process for a full overview of fields, location, and photos/videos.) - Additionally, you will get a mandatory Checkpoint field to fill out, where you select which checkpoint the registration belongs to.
- Tap Create.
Each registration appears in the list under Registrations, with an icon indicating the type:
Document = Documentation.
Warning triangle = Issue.
Checkmark = Task.
You can add multiple registrations consecutively by tapping + Add at the bottom of the inspection, without needing to close and reopen it.
5.0 Editing an Inspection and Its Registrations
An inspection can only be opened and edited via the Registration List (the Inspections tab), not via markers in the model as individual registrations can.
The registrations inside the inspection (documentations, Issues, tasks) can be opened and edited in three ways:
- Directly from the inspection: Open the inspection, and tap the desired row under Registrations. This opens the same editing view as described below.
- Via marker in model or map: Tap the marker, select the registration in the list that appears, and edit.
- Via the registration list: Open Registration List → the Registration tab, where both standalone and inspection-linked registrations are shown together.
Regardless of which method you use, the same editing view is displayed. Since the registrations was created from an inspection, a special card link is shown at the top indicating which inspection it originated from – tap the arrow to jump directly there.
This is the same shortcut referenced in How to Register and Follow Up on Issues and How to Create and Assign Tasks.
Make changes in the form, and tap Save to save all new or changed information.
Note! If you try to leave the inspection itself with unsaved changes, you will get a warning: "Unsaved changes detected. Please save before leaving." Tap Save to save the changes, or Cancel to continue editing.
6.0 Generating and Signing the Report
When you tap the Report button at the top right, you are automatically taken to Preview, where the report is presented.
The report shows, among other things:
- Overall information about the inspection
- Tracking information (system log of creation/edit dates)
- A checkpoint table with status, number of registrations per checkpoint, date, and who checked it
- Details for each registration added.
How to sign the report:
- Tap Sign Report.
- Enter your name in the Name field.
- Draw your signature in the signature field.
- Tap Complete Signature.
When the report is signed, the Signed field in the inspection’s properties changes from a yellow warning to a green checkmark.
Note! If you have made changes to the inspection after the report was generated, you must tap Update Report for the changes to appear before signing.
7.0 Typical Ways to Use Inspections
- Conduct a structured site survey with fixed checkpoints, such as HSE rounds or condition checks.
- Document findings directly in the inspection by adding documentation, issues, or tasks linked to the correct checkpoint.
- Ensure traceability and a signed proof that the inspection has been carried out through report generation and signature.
- Follow up on findings afterward, since issues and tasks created in the inspection retain the link to it.
